Middle School - Demonstration Speeches

Middle schoolers should be determining their demonstration topic by Sunday night, and should come prepared to outline their speech in class on Monday.  For outlining, they will need to have their supply list, instructions, etc. with them in class.  They may bring a computer if they'd like.

The time limit for each demonstration speech is 7-10 minutes.  We will not be working with partners.

I have asked students to stretch their creativity and come up with a unique idea.  We have also discussed using technology as part of the demonstration whenever possible.  We live in a very technical world - PowerPoint, photo slide shows, iPads, etc. will certainly be a part of their college and professional careers, so I welcome them in the classroom!  Should your student choose a topic that takes longer than 10 minutes from start to finish, they may do it at home, taking photos of each step, and then putting the photos into a presentation to walk the class through...finishing their project in class.

If your middle schooler is still looking for an idea, this list may help inspire them.
